Alps SFR Fabric Reinforced EasySleeve is a gel prosthetic suspension sleeve designed for those amputees with sensitive skin searching for a durable BK sleeve . This suspension sleeve allows complete freedom of movement and at the same time secures by sealing with the skin without restricting circulation. Alps EasySleeve uses the same EasyGel material that is found in Alps’s Flexion Comfort, Thermoformable, and Distal Cushion prosthetic liners. Their EasyGel formula contains antioxidants intended to remove toxins from the body and help your skin reestablish its natural hydration level. Concerned about bending your knee? The combination of EasyGel and an elastic outer fabric will allow you to fully bend your knee while at the movies when someone is trying to slide past your seat. This below the knee suspension sleeve is an alternative to using a prosthetic liner with locking pin suspension or adds security to a pin suspension, without any loss of comfort.
Alps’ uses a proprietary compound called Easygel and is made from a combination of Styrene Triblock Copolymer & Mineral Oil.
Although it is not necessary to apply any type of lubricant to your residual limb you may use either talcum powder or . Avoid petroleum jelly and other oil based lubricants, as they will damage your EasySleeve SFR. Apply talcum powder to the inside of the EasySleeve. Invert the EasySleeve so that the inside is facing out and roll the sleeve up onto your prosthetic socket. Place your residual limb inside the socket and roll the EasySleeve onto your thigh. Many Prosthetists would instruct below knee amputees to roll their sleeves on versus pulling on to prevent any skin from being pulled taught along your thigh.
Daily: Be sure to clean the Easy sleeve on a daily basis with a light washcloth and neutral/pH-balanced soap, Alps Prosthetic Cleanser PD595 and Amputee Essentials Prosthetic Wipes are especially made for this purpose. Do not scrub or rub the gel during washing, this can damage the gel. Rinse well because soap residue can cause skin issues. Make sure the sleeve is completely dry before using. Wipe the sleeve dry with a clean, dry towel and apply a light dusting of talcum powder to the outside of the sleeve. Weekly: Place a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a soft, clean cloth. Do Not soak the sleeve in alcohol. Wipe the sleeve with a the cloth thoroughly, wipe dry with a towel and apply a light dusting of talcum powder to the outside of the sleeve. To remove a stain on the fabric side, use a cloth dampened in nail polish remover and rub until clean. Do NOT soak in nail polish or you will dissolve the gel!
Hand wash only, machine washing can damage the sleeve. Avoid petroleum jelly and other oil based lubricants, as they will damage your EasySleeve SFR. Do Not soak the sleeve in alcohol. Do NOT soak in nail polish or you will dissolve the gel!
